“Pedestrian” is an evolving, three-week installation created by textile artist Lee Davignon. Using upcycled plastics, fabrics, hardware, and other materials, Lee will explore the intersections of craft and construction as witnessed walking the streets of the city. Using the window gallery, Lee’s assemblage focuses attention on the visibility of labor over a period time, much like the various construction sites around Seattle.
Fascinated by grids, structures, and the unnoticed art of everyday, her project is a material-based performance of a changing landscape with no formal end-point, constantly “under construction,” contrasting the convention of progress.
“Pedestrian” also references those interacting with the piece as they pass, and the intimacy of walking a particular path that allows one to see a process unfold.
